Why am I not allowed to use a dot (.) in my username?
We restrict dots in usernames to prevent confusion between usernames and email addresses. Since you can log in using either one, allowing dots would make it harder for our system—and for users—to distinguish between them.
But my email address has dots. Why is that allowed?
Emails must allow dots because they’re part of the standard email format. Usernames, however, don’t require them, and restricting dots helps keep the two identifiers clearly separate.
How does this help me as a user?
Can I still use my preferred name or handle?
Yes—your username can include letters, numbers, underscores, and dashes. We only restrict dots to keep things consistent and prevent technical pitfalls.
Join a thriving community, access industry insights, and monitor your mining claims—all in one place.
