In The Field Mineral

The YouTube channel Orophelia details his build of a small dry shaker table he claims captures 60% of 300 mesh minus gold---with no water required.

Interesting-looking machine.. it looks like that is more placer (at least in that video) but wonder how it would handle ground hardrock ... then to smelt and such and see

Hey Ryan, it's cerMt. Baker Mining and Metals on YouTube routinely catches around 90-92% of gold down to beyond 300 mesh on a 4 foot long sluice with 1/2" expanded metal and backed miner's moss using a wet process. Granted, that sluice is processing material where 80% passes through 50 mesh coming off a hammer mill and the water flow is mellow, but still, its excellent capture. In some ways, capturing hard rock gold with gravity concentration e.g. sluicing may be easier than placer, as lode gold is rough, angular, and more boulder-like rather than kite sails like some placer pieces can be. When panning 1kg of unclassified sample material from the mine dump at one of my hard rock claims, I routinely get dozens to hundreds to nano pieces, many that are not visible without a 10X loupe. For Orophelia on YouTube, catching 60% of minus 300 mesh using a dry process is possibly unprecedented---I've never heard of anyone trying such a thing let alone achieving capture rates that good for such small gold. This capture rate absolutely trounces any dry washer I've ever seen or heard of for minus 300 mesh material.

oh for sure .. and yeah I get the mbmm's table is pretty amazing.. i am thinking of how much the dry vs wet makes of a difference and the size in general (mbmm tables seem to be on average 4x8 whereas thislooks like 2ft by 2ft). I am not bashing it at all, just I would want to play and test lots of material over it. That being said, I don't have a hardrock mine to run material from, be it tailings from past miners or new material. lol
